"Yoga does not just change the
way we see things, it transforms
the person who sees them"
B.K.S. Iyengar
While yoga is often perceived in the West as merely a physical practice, Iyengar Yoga is much more than exercise. This unique method, developed by the master B.K.S. Iyengar, integrates physical, mental, and spiritual practice, aiming to create harmony between the body, mind, and spirit.
Through intellectual and spiritual exploration, Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar developed techniques that are accessible to all yoga practitioners. His method, built on the principles of “research-based experience” and “experience-based research,” is now known as Iyengar Yoga. These techniques have made the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras accessible to everyone.

Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar (Guruji) is the man who introduced yoga to the West in a profound and transformative way. Through constant practice and exploration, he uncovered the deep meaning of the Yoga Sutras and made this wisdom accessible to his students. His unique teaching style, known as “Iyengar Yoga,” is now taught by certified instructors around the globe.

Fáèq Biria played a pivotal role in spreading Guruji’s teachings worldwide. Guruji entrusted him with the responsibility of teaching and training instructors in numerous countries, from Japan to Brazil, the United States to Singapore, and Israel to China. He left a profound impression in every place he visited.

My journey with yoga began unexpectedly in my early twenties, in the former Soviet Union. In 1989, a small and modest book on yoga came into my hands- a rare find in communist Russia, where such books circulated quietly from friend to friend. Although movement and dance had been central to my life since childhood, those few pages profoundly transformed my understanding of the relationship between body, mind, and soul; between inner and outer awareness; between practice and philosophy.
I began practicing according to the guidance in that book, together with a friend who had studied yoga at the Indian Embassy. What started as curiosity soon became a lifelong journey that continues to this day.
As part of my formal training in Iyengar Yoga, I completed a teacher training program in Israel under the guidance of Faeq and Corinne Biria and Pachi Lizardi. I later continued my certification studies in Paris with Faeq and Corinne Biria, completing the Junior 2, 3 and senior 1 levels. Since 2000, I have participated annually in their summer intensives in France.
From 2004 I lived in Paris for five years and I had an immense pleasure and honor to study and teach at Iyengar yoga center of Paris by Faeq and Corine Biria , competing my deep studies with all the classes and workshops and trainings that my teachers performed !
In parallel, I have maintained continuous yearly study at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, the mother institute of Iyengar Yoga, where I continue to learn directly from members of the Iyengar family.
Alongside my yoga studies, I completed formal studies in Ayurveda with Dr. Swaroop Verma and in macrobiotics with Dr. Mira Niazov, since 2023 I study metaphysics with Ilana Rogel who is giving me a deep inspiration for my practice, study and teaching and living.
In 2008, inspired by my teachers in France, I founded our studio in Tel Aviv. Since its establishment, I have personally trained and mentored remarkable students — devoted practitioners and young teachers at the beginning of their teaching paths.
Beyond the studio, I teach annual workshops for students from around the world, including Israel, France, Brazil, Slovenia, Sweden, Japan and Norway.
One of the great inspirations in my practice comes from the words of the poet Rumi:
“You are not a drop in the ocean.
You are the entire ocean in a drop.”
Throughout 2026, I will be leading workshops and events around the world. After a decade of activity at Iyengar Yoga Tel Aviv South, I lovingly said goodbye to our physical space- a place that allowed students and practitioners to grow into a supportive and inspiring community.
Our strong practice continues together through online classes on Zoom, as well as workshops, courses, and intensives worldwide.
